More than ten projects led by ICMAT researchers have been selected within the 2024 Call for Knowledge Generation Projects (PID) of the Spanish State Research Agency (AEI), under the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, with co-funding from the European Union.
Through them, researchers at the Institute will carry out research across a broad range of areas, including inverse problems, Banach lattices, arithmetic and combinatorics, geometric group theory, incompressible fluid mechanics, inverse problems and inequalities, integrable systems, field and information theories, and mathematics applied to biomedicine. In addition, four of these projects include the recruitment of predoctoral researchers, who will undertake a doctoral thesis during the lifetime of the grants.

World’s leading experts in the field of fluid equations, one of the hottest areas of current research, gathered at ICMAT and CUNEF University from 15 to 19 December 2025. They presented their latest results on the study of the Euler and Navier–Stokes equations at the conference Recent Trends in Mathematical Fluid Dynamics.

First articles published in the new ICMAT sections in ABC and elDiario.es
In December, ICMAT launched two new sections on mathematics outreach in the general-interest press: ‘ Entre teoremas’ (Between Theorems), which is hosted by the ABC newspaper, and ‘ Dimensión fractal’ (Fractal Dimension), in elDiario.es.
On a monthly basis, articles on mathematics will be published, written by researchers in this field and edited by Ágata Timón, coordinator of ICMAT’s Mathematical Culture Unit.
ICMAT is organising the following key activity in the coming months:
Furthermore, ICMAT hosts weekly thematic seminars where researchers from each area share their latest results.
