Several of these grants include predoctoral research training contracts (PIF), for which applications will open shortly

More than ten projects led by researchers from the Institute of Mathematical Sciences have been selected within the 2024 Call for Knowledge Generation Projects (PID) of the Spanish State Research Agency (AEI), under the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, with co-funding from the European Union

These grants, totalling nearly €800,000, will start in 2025 and will run for three to four years. Through them, researchers at the Institute will carry out research across a broad range of areas, including inverse problems, Banach lattices, arithmetic and combinatorics, geometric group theory, incompressible fluid mechanics, inverse problems and inequalities, integrable systems, field and information theories, and mathematics applied to biomedicine

In addition, four of these projects include the recruitment of predoctoral researchers, who will undertake a doctoral thesis during the lifetime of the grants. These contracts include additional funding to cover doctoral fees and research stays at other R&D centres. The selected candidates will join in the first half of 2026. Applications for the CSIC contracts are open from 19 December 2025 to 8 January 2026 via the following link.
