Five projects co-directed by ICMAT researchers have been selected within the International Collaboration Projects programme of the Spanish State Research Agency. These are three-year research proposals developed bilaterally between German and Spanish institutions, for the implementation of which the ICMAT will receive a total of half a million euros. In addition, six post-doctoral contracts will be offered to researchers who will spend their time between the ICMAT and the collaborating German institution. They are the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, the University of Münster, the University of Duisburg-Essen, the Institute of Applied Dynamics of the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg, the University of Augsburg and the Universität Wuppertal.

The selected projects cover a wide range of topics: from geometric group theory to functional analysis to algebraic geometry to celestial mechanics. They are as follows: ‘Mapping class groups from above and below’, “Lagrangian and Hamiltonian field theories geometry, discretization, optimal control”, “Celestial mechanics, hydrodynamics, and Turing machines”, “Operator theory on free Banach lattices” and “Topology of moduli of Hodge bundles, G-Higgs bundles and character varieties of surface groups”. On the ICMAT side, the directors are, respectively, Javier Aramayona (ICMAT-CSIC); David Martín de Diego (ICMAT-CSIC); Daniel Peralta (ICMAT-CSIC); Pedro Tradacete (ICMAT-CSIC) and Óscar García Prada (ICMAT-CSIC).
