Resumen:
The Euler and Kolyvagin system machinery is a powerful machinery that relates the special values of L-functions with important arithmetic objects like the class group of number fields or the Mordell-Weil group of elliptic curves. This connection is expressed via certain Galois cohomology groups known as Selmer groups. In this talk, I will explain how Kolyvagin systems can be used to characterise the structure of Selmer groups, and I will discuss recent advances that allow for the computation of Selmer groups in cases that were previously inaccessible.
