About:
Mario Garcia-Fernandez is a permanent CSIC researcher (Científico Titular) working at ICMAT, from January 2024. His research is in the areas of differential geometry and algebraic geometry, and has strong links with geometric analysis and mathematical physics. The main projects he has carried out include special metrics and connections in complex geometry (Kähler and non-Kähler), spin geometry, generalized geometry, and the theory of moduli spaces in algebraic geometry.
Previously, Garcia-Fernandez was a Ramón y Cajal Researcher (2020-2023) and Assistant Professor (2017-2019) at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellow at the Instituto de Ciencias Matemáticas (ICMAT) in Madrid (2015-2017), and had postdoctoral appointments at the Nigel Hitchin Laboratory of ICMAT (2014-2015), the École Polytechnique Federal de Lausanne (2013-2014), and the Centre for Quantum Geometry of Moduli Spaces (Aarhus, 2010-2012). He has also held visiting positions at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics (Bonn), at the Humboldt University (Berlin), and at the Hausdorff Research Institute for Mathematics (Bonn). He obtained his PhD in 2009 at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.
Mario Garcia-Fernandez has written papers in differential geometry, algebraic geometry, and mathematical physics. His publications include articles in Journal of Differential Geometry, Crelle’s Journal, Journal de Mathématiques Pures et Appliquées, Advances in Mathematics, Geometry and Topology, Proceedings of the London Mathematical Society, and Communications in Mathematical Physics.
