Meyer

Frances Kirwan is a professor at the Mathematical Institute of Oxford University (United Kingdom). She was the President of the London Mathematical Society from 2003 to 2005. Her work on algebraic geometry and symplectic geometry has earned her numerous awards, among which may be mentioned: the Whitehead Prize (1989) and the Whitehead Senior Prize (2013) from the London Mathematical Society, and an OBE in 2014. Furthermore, she is a Fellow of the Royal Society, 2001, has held an EPSRC Senior Research Fellowship from 2005 to 2010, and is a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society (2012) and a member of the European Academy.

Meyer

Yakov Sinai has been a professor at the Department of Mathematics of Princeton University (USA) since 1993. He has also been a professor at the Moscow State University and the Landau Institute of Theoretical Physics (1971-1993) in Russia. He was awarded the Abel Prize in 2014 for his fundamental contributions to dynamical systems, ergodic theory and mathematical physics. Among others, he has received the following awards: the Boltzmann Medal (1986) from the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP), the Dannie Heineman Prize (1990) from the American Physical Society, the Markov Prize (1990) from the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Dirac Prize (1992) from the ICPT in Trieste, the Wolf Prize (1997) from the Wolf Foundation in Israel, the Moser Prize (2001) from the SIAM, the Nemmers Prize (2002) from the Northwestern University, the Lagrange Prize (2008) from the ISI in Turin, the Henri Poincaré Prize (2009) from the IAMP, and the Leroy P. Steele Prize (2013) from the AMS. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (1983), the Russian Academy of Sciences (1991), the London Mathematical Society (1992), the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (1993), the US National Academy of Sciences (1999), the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (2000) and the Polish Academy of Sciences (2009), among others.

Meyer

Endre Szemerédi is a professor at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences Alfréd Rényi Institute of Mathematics (Hungary). He has held professorial positions at different US universities: the University of Stanford (1974), McGill (1980), South Carolina (1981–1983), Chicago (1985–1986) and since 1986 at Rutgers University. The Norwegian Academy of Sciences and Letters awarded him the Abel Prize in 2012 for his work on combinatorics, graph theory and computation. In addition, he has received the following awards: the Alfréd Rényi Prize (1973) from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the Pólya Prize (1975) from the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM), the Schock Prize for Mathematics (2008) from the Swedish Royal Academy of Sciences, and the Leroy P.Steele Prize (2008) from the AMS, among others.  He is a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (1987) and the US National Academy of Sciences (2010).

Meyer

S.R. Srinivasa Varadhan is a professor at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, New York University (USA), where he has worked since the post-doctoral phase of his career in 1963. He was awarded the Abel Prize in 2007 for his fundamental contributions to probability theory. He has also been the recipient of other awards such as the Birkhoff Prize for Applied Mathematics from the American Mathematical Society (AMS) in 1994, the Leroy P.Steele Prize (1996) from the AMS, the US National Medal of Science in 2008, and the Padma Bhushan Prize from the Indian Government in 2008. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (1988), the Third World Academy of Sciences (1988), the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (1991), the US National Academy of Sciences (1995), the Royal Society (1998), the Indian Academy of Sciences (2004), the Norwegian Academy of Sciences and Letters (2009) and the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (2009).
