Martingales and norms of singular integral operators (from the viewpoint of the calculus of variations)

Abstract:
Given a singular integral operator acting on some function space, a lot of work has been done on determining when it is bounded; much less is known on what its norm is. In this talk, I will present some almost-sharp estimates on the norm of certain operators and their implications, particularly in the calculus of variations. Based on my paper “Korn’s inequality from the viewpoint of calculus of variations”.
