A geometric approach to the splitting of invariant manifolds (ongoing with Jean-Pierre Marco)

Abstract:
In this talk, I will introduce an explicit near-integrable family of Hamiltonian diffeomorphisms on the cotangent bundle of the 2-torus. I will describe some of its hyperbolic properties. Then, one part of the talk is devoted to explain how the so-called "Irwin-Chaperon method" applies to obtain a holomorphic graph-parametrization of the invariant manifolds. I plan to conclude the talk with a brief and informal discussion on how this approach provides lower-bounds for the splitting of the invariant manifolds of the system we consider.
