Abstract:
Branes are extended objects from string theory that are the central object of the mathematical understanding of mirror symmetry. Branes of type BAA are based on D-modules over complex Lagrangians and have largely resisted satisfactory formalisation. Their mirror BBB-branes are hyperholomorphic sheaves and have recently been formalised by Franco–Hanson as a subcategory of derived sheaves over twistor space. I will discuss the generalised branes defined by Gualtieri based in generalised geometry, in which BAA branes are much more similar to the hyperkähler BBB branes. This motivates a proposal for a twistor definition of the category of BAA branes.
