Abstract:
12:00 - 13:00. Lecture 1: On extremal metrics
This is a expository talk on constant scalar curvature Kähler metrics, an area on which I have worked most of my career. Starting with my thesis work on the existence of extremal Hermitian metrics in Riemannian surfaces, I will go on with Calabi's seminal works in 1982 and 1985, and then will touch on several exciting developments since the inception of Donaldson's program in Kähler geometry, leading eventually to my joint work with Cheng in 2018. This is of course a personal reflection on this exciting field.
13:00 - 14:00. Lecture 2: On extremal metrics with singularities
In this talk, I will discuss extension of Calabi-Donaldson's theory in Kähler geometry to manifolds with cusp singularities. In particular, I will discuss the existence and uniqueness of constant scalar flat Kähler metrics with cusp singularities, and lower bounds of the K-energy for the restricted Kähler class.
