Singular spectrum under large perturbations of self-adjoint operators.

Abstract:

We give a gentle review of some well-known basic results in classical perturbation theory of self-adjoint operators, for example concerning 1-dimensional perturbations. Finally, we discuss some recent results on the behaviour of the singular spectrum in a new setup, where we allow the perturbations to be even of non-trace class. The talk is based on a joint work with Constanze Liaw (U. Delaware) and Sergei Treil (Brown U.)
