TRAIN
Renfe Cercanías train C4 line (either Alcobendas direction or Colmenar Viejo direction). Get off at Cantoblanco Universidad station.
Renfe (the Spanish train company) now has a free fare for frequent travelers until April 30, 2023. In order to request your free tickets, you must follow the instructions in this website (in Spanish). These include registering at Renfe (mandatory), and afterwards selecting the "Abono gratuito para viajero frecuente" either in the Renfe app or the vending machines at the stations. You will be charged 10EUR, which will be refunded if you do more than 16 trips until April 30, 2023. But even if you do not use the 16 trips and do not get the refund, if you come for more than 3 days it is worth the price (a single-ride ticket is 1.7EUR).
UPDATE: During the period of the research term, the train line C4, that connects Madrid with ICMAT, will not operate between the stops of Chamartín and Nuevos Ministerios (source). This means that if you wanted to take line C4 in Atocha or Sol, you will have to exit the train at Nuevos Ministerios, take lines C1-C2-C7-C10 until Chamartín, and take line C4 again once in Chamartín until Cantoblanco Universidad. The same applies for going back to Madrid from ICMAT.
BUS
There are several intercity bus lines:
- Nr. 714, from Madrid (Intercambiador Plaza de Castilla) to Cantoblanco Campus (Centro Biotecnología Molecular "Severo Ochoa" stop) and then five-minute walk through Nicolas Cabrera St. Frequency: 12 min.
- Nr. 827, Madrid (Canillejas) - Alcobendas - Universidad Autónoma - Tres Cantos. Frequency: 15-20 min. From/To Barajas Airport T4: 40 min journey.
- Nr. 827-A, San Sebastián de los Reyes / Alcobendas – UAM Cantoblanco. Frequency: 20/40 min.
- Nr. 828, Campo de las Naciones – Barajas Airport (T4) – UAM Cantoblanco. Frequency: 2 hours.
* Neither 714 nor 827 bus lines go to UAM Cantoblanco on Sundays or holidays.
* 828 bus line provide service only on weekdays.
