Biographical Review

Makrina Agaoglou completed her Bachelor degree in Mathematics (Bsc 2008) and her Master degree in Theoretical Mathematics (Msc 2011) in the Department of Mathematics of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. In Fall 2009 she carried out a research stay at the University of Antwerp in Belgium with the support of the Greek State Scholarships Foundation (IKY). She obtained her PhD (October 2015) in Applied Mathematics in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki under the supervision of Vassilis Rothos with a dissertation on the Bifurcation and Stability of Periodic Solutions in Nonlinear Lattices with Analytical Methods. Between April 2014 and August 2014 she carried out a research stay at the University of Essex in UK under the supervision of Hadi Susanto and with the support of the Greek State Scholarships Foundation (IKY).

Since January 2016 she has held postdoctoral positions at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst MA, under the co-supervision of Panayotis Kevrekidis and Theodora Ioannidou, at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, under the supervision of Vassilis Rothos and at the Mathematical Institute of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava, under the supervision of Michal Feckan. Currently she is working at the ICMAT as a postdoctoral researcher under the supervision of Ana M. Mancho.

Her research interests are the following: Dynamical Systems, Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations, Nonlinear Waves, Chaos, Bifurcation and Stability Theory, Solitons, Fluid Dynamics and Patterns Formation. She has been working on certain problems that arise in physics and biology.
