Biographical Review

Leonardo Colombo (Spanish National Research Council-CSIC) is a Juan de la Cierva Incorporación Researcher at ICMAT from March 2018.His research interests include nonlinear control theory, geometric mechanics, geometric integration of ODE's, dynamics and control of hybrid and multi-agent systems.

He did his PhD in Applied Mathematics (Ph.D program of Universidad Autónoma de Madrid) under the supervision of Dr. David Martín de Diego at Instituto de Ciencias Matemáticas (ICMAT) thanks to the JAE Predoctoral grant at CSIC from September 2010 to August 2014. He was also a JAE-Intro from CSIC at ICMAT in 2009.

Prior to return ICMAT he was an ACCESS Linnaeus Center postdoctoral researcher under the supervision of Prof. Dimos Dimarogonas at the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS), KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Stockholm, Sweden) from June 2017 to February 2018. From September 2014 to May 2017 he was a Postdoctoral Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor under the mentorship of Prof. Anthony Bloch.

Awards:

  • Premio Vicent Caselles 2016 (Vicent Caselles Award - 2016) from Real Sociedad Matem ática Española BBVA Foundation.
  • Outstanding Postdoctoral Assistant Professor Teaching Award in Mathematics, University of Michigan, 2016.
  • One of the two best Posters in XVIII InternationalWorkshop on Geometry and Physics: Quasivelocities and Optimal Control for Underactuated Mechanical Systems, 2009. (Jae-Intro project under the supervision of Dr. David Martín de Diego).
  • Award to the Best undergraduate students 2007, 2008 and 2009 of Municipalidad de La Costa, Buenos Aires, Argentina
