Biographical Review

Leonardo Colombo is a Post Doctoral Junior Leader from La Caixa Fundation since June 2019

His research interests include Multi-agent control systems, geometric mechanics, geometric integration, hybrid systems, robot motion planning, unmanned aerial vehicles, formation control, control oriented learning.

He did his PhD in Applied Mathematics (Ph.D program of Universidad Autónoma de Madrid) under the supervision of Dr. David Martín de Diego at Instituto de Ciencias Matemáticas (ICMAT) thanks to the JAE Predoctoral grant at CSIC from September 2010 to August 2014. He was also a JAE-Intro from CSIC at ICMAT in 2009.

He was a Juan de la Cierva Incorporación Researcher at ICMAT (2018-2019), an ACCESS Linnaeus Center postdoctoral researcher under the supervision of Prof. Dimos Dimarogonas at the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS), KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Stockholm, Sweden) from June 2017 to February 2018. From September 2014 to May 2017 he was a Postdoctoral Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor under the mentorship of Prof. Anthony Bloch.

  • Outstanding Postdoctoral Assistant Professor Teaching Award in Mathematics, University of Michigan, 2016.
  • One of the two best Posters in XVIII InternationalWorkshop on Geometry and Physics: Quasivelocities and Optimal Control for Underactuated Mechanical Systems, 2009. (Jae-Intro project under the supervision of Dr. David Martín de Diego).
