About:

Fernando Lledó is an associate professor of the Department of Mathematics of the University Carlos III of Madrid and a member of the Institute Mathematical Sciences (ICMAT). He studied theoretical physics at the UAM and mathematics at the UAM, TU-Berlin and Humboldt University Berlin. He obtained his Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Potsdam (Germany) in 1999 and the Habilitation in Mathematics and Privatdozent degree from the RWTH-Aachen University (Germany) in 2005. He was awarded with the Michelson prize of the science faculty of the University of Potsdam in 1999 and a Ramón y Cajal researcher position in 2009.

His recent main research interests are:

  1. The theory of operator algebras, in particular, in relation with the dichotomy amenable versus the existence of paradoxical decompositions. Interaction of operator algebras with group and semigroup theory, uniform Roe algebras and relation to coarse geometry etc. (Some recent publications in collaborations with Pere Ara, Diego Martínez, Jianchao Wu and Kang Li: J. Funct. Anal. 279 (2020) 108530 (43pp); Bull. Math. Sci. 8 (2018) 257-306; J. Math. Anal. Appl. 459 (2018) 686-716).
  2. Spectral graph theory, in particular, interaction of spectral properties of discrete magnetic Laplacians on finite and infinite graphs with combinatorial and discrete geometric structures of the underlying graph. Existence of spectral gaps and preorders on graphs. (Some recent publications in collaboration with J. Fabila-Carrasco and O. Post: Math. Ann. (2020) 49pp.; doi: 10.1007/s00208-020-02091-5; Lin. Alg. Appl. 547 (2018) 183-216
  3. Functional analysis and mathematical physics: Self-adjoint extensions of symmetric operators to self-adjoint operators; Laplacians on Riemannian manifolds; relation of operator algebras with the mathematical description of quantum theory. (Some recent publications in collaboration with A. Ibort, J.M. Pérez-Pardo, D. Martínez: ; J. Funct. Anal. 268 (2015) 634–670 ; Ann. H. Poincaré 16 (2015) 2367-2397; Springer Proceedings in Physics Vol. 229, Springer Verlag, 2019; DOI: https://doi.org/10.1007/978-3-030-24748-5_14
