Welcome
The Harmonic Analysis and von Neumann Algebras (HAVNA) workshop will bring together researchers in operator algebras from diverse backgrounds to explore the interplay between Lp harmonic analysis, ergodic theory, and representation theory in the study and classification of von Neumann algebras. Particular emphasis will be placed on how these techniques complement and enrich one another.
Central themes of the workshop include rigidity phenomena for von Neumann algebras arising from ergodic and representation-theoretic methods; Fourier and Schur multipliers on non-abelian groups—with special attention to high-rank simple Lie groups and their lattices—as well as other singular integral operators acting on noncommutative Lp-spaces.
By highlighting recent advances and open problems, HAVNA aims to foster deeper interaction among experts and to stimulate new collaborations. The event will feature both leading specialists and early-career researchers with broad interests in group von Neumann algebras.
