Welcome
I am currently finishing my PhD thesis "Higgs bundles and Hermitian symmetric spaces'' under the advising of Óscar García-Prada at the Institute for Mathematical Sciences, Madrid. The ICMAT is a joint research institute of the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas (Spanish National Research Council) and three Madrid universities: the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, and the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
My mathematical interests are G-Higgs bundles for real groups of Hermitian type, with special attention to the exceptional cases. This implies studying exceptional Lie groups and its representations, spin groups and spinorial representations, Higgs bundles, Jordan algebras, bounded complex homogenous domains, etc.
I also hold a fellowship at the Residencia de Estudiantes, a mixture of cultural center and college which offers twenty-three scholarships for artists and researchers in all disciplines. Read some history here and look out for the call for applications (by May-June).
Thirty-five years ago, when I arrived at Indiana University, a senior faculty member took me aside and gave me some advice. "Ewing," he said, "here are five things you ought to do in the next few years if you want to be a mathematician." Publish sensibly, discover constantly, travel extensively, talk widely, teach passionately. Do those things, he said, and mathematics becomes a part of your life - not just a job, but a profession. That was good advice.
