The ICMAT is a joint research institute of the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas and three Madrid universities: the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, and the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, with the following objectives:
- High quality mathematical research.
- Stimulate interdisciplinary research and explore new contexts for its use in basic science and in industry, with an eye towards its applications in the contemporary information society.
- Provide internationally competitive doctoral and postdoctoral training.
- Serve as an interlocutor between the scientific community and the technological, industrial, and financial sectors.
The distinguishing characteristics of ICMAT are:
- Top quality research.
- Innovative research.
- Emphasis on young researchers.
- Internationalization.
- Collaboration with universities and other research centers.
- Dedication to serving the Spanish mathematical community through activities in outreach, digitalization and documentation.
Action Plan
The ICMAT works to attract the best researchers, using the tools provided by its Strategic Plan (permanent and postdoc positions).
In addition, the ICMAT wants to contribute to the formation of young researchers of the highest quality, using different instruments: Training courses, JAE School of Mathematics, Thematic trimesters and semesters, Seminars.
