Semester Progam on Moduli Spaces
The semester program on moduli spaces (January-June, 2008)is dedicated to the study of moduli spaces with emphasis on the interaction between this field and other areas of mathematics and theoretical physics, such as algebraic geometry, differential geometry, symplectic geometry, gauge theory, topological invariant theory, quantum field theory, and string theory. The theory of moduli spaces is a highly active interdisciplinary area which is producing fructiferous interactions between diverse areas in mathematics and theoretical physics. An important objective of this semester is to stimulate interaction and to introduce to active research areas doctoral students, postdocs, and researchers from other fields in geometry and theoretical physics. Among the activities are the following:
- International School on Geometry and Physics: moduli spaces in geometry, topology and physics. International Mathematics Conference Center (CIEM), Cantabria. 25-29 February 2008.
- Moduli spaces of vector bundles: algebro-geometric aspects. Facultat de Matemàtiques, Universitat de Barcelona. 12-14 March 2008.
- Bundles, gerbes and derived categories in string theory. Universidad de Salamanca. 14-16 May 2008.
- Geometry and physics: special metrics and supersymmetry. Universidad del País Vasco. 29-31 May 2008.
- Conference on vector bundles in honour of S. Ramanan (on the occasion of his 70th birthday). Residencia La Cristalera, Miraflores de la Sierra (Madrid). 16-20 June 2008.
The semester is organized by the CSIC (Madird), the Universidad del País Vasco, the Universidad de Salamanca, and the Universitat de Barcelona, and is financed in part by i-MATH (Consolider). For more detailed information click here.
